Parents & Family
Howdy:
The Great Perhaps* is an opportunity for students to step into the technological world using a educational lens. In short, this is a way students can reflect and respond to pieces of literature and prompts, a forum for debate and adult-fashioned discussion, and a space for students to take ownership for thier contribuations to the greater-good of their English class.
This is part of your young person’s future whether you believe it or not. As many of you already may use similar modes of communication at work or home, I want to make sure you are able to weigh in on the same topics as your high schooler. Maybe this could be yet another way to connect (or re-connect) with your teenager too!
As parents and guardians, you are always welcome to contribute to disucssion. Keep in mind that the site is heavily moderated and anything submitted is subject to deletion upon my review. I read all that is posted before the WWW can “see” it.
Furthermore, I understand that not all students have access to the internet at home. If there comes a time that submissions on the blog are required for a grade in class, I will allow more than enough time and opportunity for students to complete the task within the confines of the school day. Keep in mind that your student, if access is available at home, may make submissions to the blog at any time. There is a bit of lay-over time between submission and posting simply because I like to sleep at night rather than read high-school blog posts (I know, what kind of life do I have?).
Enough blabbing from me. Check the site more than once to see what your young person has done. You could see them in a whole new light (witty, understanding and thoughtful)!
